MVCTC SkillsUSA Chapter 1 Strives to Share Positive Attitudes

Englewood, Ohio - The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) SkillsUSA Chapter I held its first meeting on September 21, 2015. The meeting included introducing new students to SkillsUSA, fun and games.

 

The new SkillsUSA Chapter I officers for the 2015-2016 school year are:

  • President – Madeline Durham (Dental Assistant) Eaton
  • Vice President – Emma Deranek-Williams (Cosmetology) Valley View
  • Secretary – Bayley Boston (Dental Assistant) Brookville
  • Treasurer – Alicia Jackson (Dental Assistant) Vandalia-Butler
  • Reporter – Taylor Tucker (Dental Assistant) Tri-County North
  • Parliamentarian – Kurtiss Jones (Cosmetology) Miamisburg
  • Ambassador – Shelby Reed (Cosmetology) Carlisle
  • Student Advisor – Taryn Haynes (Cosmetology) Twin Valley South

 

The meeting included inspirational guest speaker 2015 MVCTC graduate Rayna Huffman, who placed at the National Prepared Speech SkillsUSA Contest in 2015. Rayna shared her success at MVCTC and encouraged students to get involved in SkillsUSA. The officers concluded the meeting with fun activities to help chapter members get to know each other better.

 

This year, the SkillsUSA Chapter I officers plan on making the meetings all about positivity and spreading happiness throughout each other’s labs, the school, and the organization as a whole. SkillsUSA is a great organization that is for all age groups that provides leadership skills and training, while promoting growth in individuals.

For over 40-years, MVCTC has been providing career technical education for 27 partner school districts encompassing five counties in Southwest Ohio.  MVCTC is dedicated to providing in-demand workforce training for youth, adults, and organizations in the Miami Valley.
