Overwhelming Response to New Adult Diploma Program Creates Challenges

11/13/2015

MVCTC was chosen as one of five sites for the Pilot Program for Adults 22 + who want to obtain a high school diploma and start a career.  The Program is funded through grant money from the Ohio Department of Education.  Students who participate and complete the requirements for the program will receive a diploma from the Ohio State Board of Education along with skills for a high demand job.

As a result of the response to the popular Program, nearly all the funding identified for 2015-2016 has been matched to participating students.  This creates a concern and uncertainty for future students and MVCTC as a provider of the new Adult 22+ Diploma program.  MVCTC and other pilot sites along with Ohio Department of Education staff are exploring other alternatives for interested students.  The Program will have additional funding beginning in July 2017.

Training areas available for the pilot program include nursing, welding, robotics and manufacturing.

Students may register at http://quickturnohio.com/.  Students are accepted on a first come, first served basis.  Currently students may be placed on a wait list depending on funding availability for the rest of 2015-2016.
