MVCTC Class of 2016 Spotlight – Ali Pompeii

Englewood, Ohio – Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) senior, Ali Pompeii was recently accepted into the Aerospace Engineering program at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA (Cal-Poly). Cal Poly’s engineering programs were ranked number seven in the country by the U.S. News & World Report in September of 2015.

 

Ali a student from Northmont, studied in the MVCTC Aviation Maintenance Technician program while attending MVCTC.  She will graduate from high school with her Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certifications, seven college credits from Clark State Community College, and will have earned her associate’s degree in Aviation Applied Sciences from Eastern New Mexico University. 

 

Ali’s education at MVCTC has not only provided her industry standard certifications and a college degree, she was the gold medal winner of the 2015 SkillsUSA National Aviation Maintenance Contest. She also was an MVCTC Student Ambassador and SkillsUSA Chapter Officer.

 

Ali shared of her MVCTC experience, “My career technical program prepared me for my future by teaching me about aircraft and how they work, and connected me with people in the industry. While being at MVCTC I have also learned interview skills, soft skills, and thanks to the ambassador program I learned how to speak in front of large groups of people.”

 

Ali’s career goals five years from now are to either be in graduate school or working for Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Gulfstream, or in the military as an aerospace engineer.

 

Ali is the daughter of Mario and Barbara Pomepii of Dayton. 

 

For over 40-years, MVCTC has been providing career technical education for 27 partner school districts encompassing five counties in Southwest Ohio.  MVCTC is dedicated to providing in-demand workforce training for youth, adults, and organizations in the Miami Valley.
