MVCTC Summer Camps 2016

Englewood, Ohio – The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) has many exciting summer opportunities for students and teachers this year. For full details on all offerings, please visit www.mvctc.com.

 

Student Career Camp: June 6-10, 9-11:30 a.m. each day.

Student Career Camp is for students entering the 8th, 9th, and 10th grades from MVCTC’s partner school districts. The purpose of the one-week career camp is to give students a hands-on experience in various programs to help them make good career decisions. There is no charge for Career Camp but campers must provide their own transportation. Supplies will be provided each day. Teacher Career Camp: June 7-9, 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. each day.

Teacher Career Camp is a three-day workshop designed for all teachers in the MVCTC partner school districts.  The goal of the camp is to:

•Experience hands-on activities in several MVCTC career programs

•Enlighten teachers on the changes in career technical education

•Educate participants as to the great salaries and working conditions that exist for career technical students.

Participants may receive one-semester credit for $175 or 1.5 CEU’s. Please contact Kelly Haws at (937)854-6244 for more information.

 

STEM Camp: June 13-17, 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m. each day.

STEM Camp is for students entering the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade with an interest in using Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to think critically and problem solve. Students can choose two programs and will spend a full day exploring these career areas with highly qualified math, science, and career-based instructors. Lunch will be provided each day. Registration for this camp is $50 for students that live in a partner school district and $75 if not living in a partner school district. Please call Cora Ullery at (937) 854-6279. VEX Robot Camp: June 21-23, 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m.

For students entering 7th - 10th grades, spend three days learning to design, build, and program a VEX Robot. This camp will give students the opportunity to work in teams, problem-solving and designing a robot to compete in VEX Robot Competitions. The camp will be under the guidance of highly-qualified

MVCTC Robotics and Physics instructors. Registration for this camp is $50 for students that live in a partner school district and $75 if not living in a partner school district. For more information, please call Kathy Coppock at (937) 854-6351. Enrollment is limited!
