Position Overview
The Peace, Justice, and Ecology Department, in collaboration with the Communications Department of the Sisters of the Precious Blood, is seeking a passionate and creative college intern to support ongoing justice initiatives and enhance communications efforts. This role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in faith-rooted social justice work, build professional experience, and contribute meaningfully to community organizing and advocacy efforts.
This internship is designed for a college student studying Digital Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or a related field, with a special interest in justice, equity, and community engagement. The ideal candidate will bring fresh perspectives and digital creativity while learning from the spiritual and justice-rooted mission of our Congregation.
Responsibilities
• Create and schedule engaging social media content, including graphics, reels, and captions for Facebook, Instagram and our website.
• Participate in planning and promotion of local justice-related events or community initiatives
• Assist with campaign creation to raise awareness of:
o Catholic Social Teaching
o Laudato Si' (Papal encyclical on ecology)
o Key Feast Days in the Precious Blood tradition
• Collaborate with the Communications Department to ensure consistent branding and messaging
• Support project management and outreach tasks with guidance from Jen and Michelle
• Attend virtual or in-person meetings with partner organizations when applicable
• Maintain records of communications campaigns and provide regular progress updates
• Develop and design social media toolkits for local and regional justice partners, such as:
o Miami Valley Immigration Coalition
o League of Women Voters
o Ohio Sisters Justice Network
• Participate in an end-of-semester performance review and connect with your instructor as needed
Skills
• Enrolled in Digital Media, Marketing, Social Work, Theology, or related field
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Experience with or interest in social justice, advocacy, and community organizing
• Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook) and design tools (Canva, Adobe Spark, etc.)
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently and collaboratively
• Openness to learning about Catholic Social Teaching and the charism of the Sisters of the Precious Blood
• Students of all faith or no faith backgrounds are encouraged to apply; we especially welcome those who bring diverse life experiences and cultural perspectives
Days / Hours
Duration: One academic semester (Summer, Fall, or Winter)
Hours: Approx. 15 hours/week (Total: 240 hours) 16 weeks
Pay Range & Benefits
Compensation: $18/hour ($4,320 total stipend)
