MVCTC Career Assessment

Career Assessment is a free service provided to students within our 27 member school districts. It is a process of determining an individual's interest, aptitude, work skills and work behaviors to assist them in planning a realistic course of action to meet their goals for the future.

The assessment tools used are standardized and are chosen to align with a student's stated interests. This is not a testing environment, as the student cannot pass or fail this experience. It is, however an opportunity for the student to experience a wide variety of tasks assessing skills such as dexterity, coordination, organizational skills, measuring skills and work behaviors such as persistence, effort,
work attitude, etc.

How To Take Advantage?
Students can contact their home school counselor for a Career Assessment Referral form. Once the form has been completed and returned to the home school counselor, it will be sent to CTC. You will then be scheduled for a career assessment.

In addition to the counselor, a teacher, work study coordinator, or special education supervisor can also make a referral. Whoever makes the referral and signs the bottom of the Career Assessment Referral form is considered the contact person, and will receive the report and letters sent to the student/parent/guardian.

Please note: Often career assessment is discussed in an Individual Education Plan (IEP) conference on the transition page under "Vocational Evaluation."
