Marketing & Media Tech Prep

“Marketing and Media provides a solid foundation in business education and technology for students wanting to enter a career in business, further their education or start their own business.” - Ms. Phillips

Program Activities

  • Potential to earn college credits and a Tech Prep Scholarship from Sinclair Community College
  • Study the foundations of marketing and business, such as management, entrepreneurship, economics, sales, and finance
  • Learn to use the latest MacIntosh and Windows based applications such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Final Cut Pro, Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
  • Learn the basics of photography and video production
  • Field trips to clothing manufacturers and sports/entertainment venues
The Marketing and Media program gives students a broad view of business. While students learn about the four P's of marketing (product, place, promotion, and price), they are establishing a solid foundation on which they can build specialized knowledge in a career field. Students can explore sports & entertainment, e-commerce, fashion & merchandising, as well as hospitality & tourism as additional topics in their studies.

Students involved in the Marketing and Media program will build a portfolio they can use as a resource both on the job as well as in their post-secondary studies. While students will be involved in learning critical thinking skills, they will also have an opportunity to be actively engaged with their classmates in group projects, visual merchandising displays, competing in business simulations, designing business and promotional materials, and creating the MVCTC morning announcements are just some of the hands-on projects students will participate in during the lab time.

Students in this program learn the business and interpersonal skills that will serve them well in careers such as marketing, advertising, business administration, entrepreneurship, international business, market research, professional selling, logistics & distribution, merchandising, and e-commerce to name but a few. Students will also apply the knowledge they gain in the classroom through competitive events and leadership seminars through Business Professionals of America (BPA).
