MVCTC student has poem published

Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) junior, Karina Kelly from Carlisle High School, recently had a poem she wrote published in a poetry book. Karina's mother, Tonia Sawyer of Franklin, without telling Karina, entered her daughter's poem in a poetry contest. They were delighted to find out that Karina's poem was selected as a finalist and would be published. Karina's poem is titled "Strong" and can be found in the book "Starts in Our Hearts: Revelry".

Help represent MVCTC in the Arcanum Old Fashion Days Parade

Miami Valley CTC will be participating in this year's Arcanum Old Fashion Days Parade on Saturday, May 19, 2012. The parade starts at 11 a.m. If you would like to walk with our trailer and help to represent MVCTC, please wear a MVCTC shirt or something blue and meet at Arcanum High School between 10:30-10:45 a.m. We would be happy to have students, alumni, parents, and staff represent MVCTC in the parade. The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) had seventeen teams compete in the 2012 Sinclair Tech Prep Showcase. The event was held on Tuesday, April 19, at Sinclair Community College.

MVCTC Legal Assistant Students Earn National Recognition

Three students from the Legal Assistant program at Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) traveled to Chicago, Illinois, to attend the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference from April 24-April 29, 2012. The students qualified for this event by placing in their State competitions. Dairyale Guest (Northmont) received 2nd place in the Nation for Legal Office Procedures. Jessica Miniard (Brookville) received 2nd place in the Nation for Advanced Office Systems & Procedures. Jordan Murphy (Arcanum) received 10th place in the Nation for Legal Office Procedures.

The 2012 SkillsUSA Ohio State Conference gathered nearly 3,000 members and advisors from CAREER TECHNICAL school programs throughout Ohio, including members of the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) SkillsUSA chapter. This annual event of Ohio SkillsUSA was held in Columbus, April 27-28, 2012.
