MVCTC Congratulates Four Staff Members on Retirement

Englewood, Ohio – Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) thanks four employees for their years of dedicated service to MVCTC students and the district mission.  Mrs. Ellen Bissey, Mr. Jerry Heckman, Mrs. Lisa Hetzer, and Mrs. Cathy Norris, announced their retirements at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.

Mrs. Ellen Bissey provided nineteen years of dedicated service to the MVCTC as a Pre-Nursing and Allied Health instructor. She provided outstanding instruction to her students and continuously showed compassion and creativity in meeting their needs. Mrs. Bissey served our country as a member of the United States Army Reserve while she was also a dedicated instructor at MVCTC.  She was an advocate for helping all students at MVCTC find success and has faithfully served on committees at MVCTC.

Mr. Jerry Heckman provided forty-five years of dedicated service to the Montgomery County Joint Vocational School/Miami Valley Career Technology Center, as a Maintenance Technician.  He developed excellent collegial relationships and provided outstanding service to the students, staff, and parents of MVCTC. Mr. Heckman exceptionally performed duties assigned, which contributed to the physical operation of MVCTC. 

Mrs. Lisa Hetzer provided twenty-six years of dedicated service to the Miami Valley Career Technology Center as a Graphic Commercial Art instructor. Mrs. Hetzer offered outstanding service to the students of MVCTC and continuously demonstrated compassion and creativity in meeting the needs of students. She developed excellent, collegial relationships with MVCTC and associate school staff, students, and parents. She was an advocate for helping all students at MVCTC find success and has faithfully served on committees at MVCTC.

Mrs. Cathy Norris provided four years of dedicated service to the Miami Valley Career Technology Center as a School Counselor. Before coming to MVCTC, Mrs. Norris worked as a school counselor for the MVCTC partner district, Tri-County North.  She served students throughout her career by advising Student Council, Students Against Destruction Decisions (SADD), Bowling Club, Preble Promise, National Honor Society, and National Technical Honor Society.   Mrs. Norris has consistently shown compassion and care in meeting the needs of students and treats all individuals with respect and an empathetic attitude.

The MVCTC Board of Education and staff wish to congratulate Mrs. Ellen Bissey, Mr. Jerry Heckman, Mrs. Lisa Hetzer, and Mrs. Cathy Norris.  The MVCTC Board joins their family, friends, and colleagues in expressing sincere gratitude and in wishing her a long, productive, and happy retirement.
