03/17/2016

Englewood, Ohio – Michael Davis, an Early Childhood Education student from Vandalia-Butler, was well aware of the educational opportunities provided at MVCTC, his parents met as high school students at what was then the Montgomery County Joint Vocational School.  His sophomore year when the MVCTC Student Ambassadors visited his high school, Michael was excited to see that he could pursue his goal of becoming a teacher by attending the Early Childhood Education program.

Upon graduation in May, Michael will have earned certification in First Aid, CPR, Child Abuse Prevention, and Communicable Disease Detection.  Michael has also earned six Sinclair Community College credits for his Early Childhood Education program, and college credits in English and math from Clark State Community College.  He will also receive the Tech Prep Scholarship to Sinclair Community College to continue his education.

After MVCTC Michael plans to pursue a degree in elementary education by attending Sinclair Community College and later transferring to Wright State University or Bowling Green State University.  His ultimate goal is to share his love of education and teach first grade some day.

Michael shared, “My favorite thing about MVCTC is the opportunities that I have gained from coming here. I have a job at Early Beginnings Child Care and Learning Center. I am also the FCCLA Chapter President and have received many leadership skills from this position. I am also a Student Ambassador and have learned many public speaking skills that I can use for my future. My experience at MVCTC has been amazing. I have received tons of training in the field I want to go into and have had the opportunity to work at a daycare and get real life experience. I also made some great friends that I hope to keep for a lifetime.”

Michael the son of Orville and Jennifer Davis of Vandalia, is currently employed at Early Beginnings Childcare and Learning Center in Vandalia.
