MVCTC Students Advance to State Science Fair

Englewood, Ohio - Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) was represented by ten Sports Medicine Students competing in the District Science Fair held March 19, at Central State University.  Of the ten competitors four students qualified with their project to participate in the State Science Fair being held on May 14, at The Ohio State University. The five students qualifying for the State Competition are:

 

  • Holly Flach, senior from Dixie/New Lebanon
  • Casey Jackson, junior from Miamisburg
  • Jayna Lee, senior from Eaton
  • Parker Wilken, senior from Eaton

Parker Wilken received special recognition at the District Contest and was awarded a cash prize.

In order for students to advance they must achieve a score of 34-40 total points on the judge’s evaluation.  Students are judged on their knowledge of the subject matter, scientific method exhibited, clarity of expression, and originality/creativity. 

The other six MVCTC students that qualified to compete at the district level are Marshai Clay (junior from Wayne), Kristin Ehrhart (junior from Northridge), Emily Hutchings (junior from Twin Valley South),  Kalei Murphy (junior from Northmont), Tyler Nutt (senior from Vandalia-Butler), and Sha’Lynn Weaver (junior from Northmont).

For over 40-years, MVCTC has been providing career technical education for 27 partner school districts encompassing five counties in Southwest Ohio.  MVCTC is dedicated to providing in-demand workforce training for youth, adults, and organizations in the Miami Valley.
